Due to refrigeration & air conditioning problems at Drexel
we cannot have the competition there this year. We will
be moving the competition to the Nodding Head Brewery &
Resturant at 1516 Sansom St.at 10 am on Saturday morning.

There is expensive parking across the street, or you can
continue west on Sansom & park in the school lot at 22st
and Sansom.
This is an opportunity for you to have your homemade beer evaluated by
BJCP qualified judges. Awards will be given for winning beers in all
categories and Best of Show. Additionally, winners will receive
points towards "Delaware Valley Homebrewer of the Year". Beer
evaluation forms will be mailed back to all contestants shortly after
the competition.
The Awards Banquet and Happy Hour is open to everyone immediately
following the competition for a very reasonable small fee of $15
for members and $20 for non-members. HOPS members and their guests can take
advantage of the "special members only" price. Several club-brewed
beers will be on draft, although you are welcome to bring your own.

Competition Guidelines and Entry Requirements

The competition is open to all homebrewers.

The fee is $6 for the first entry and $5 for each additional
entry accompanying the first. HOPS members get $1 off ($5 first
entry, $4 each additional entry). Checks must be made payable to
HOPS. If you would like to become a
member of HOPS (or renew you current membership), please fill out the
membership form and include it with your entry along with an
additional payment of $15 for an individual or $20 for a family
membership.

Entries may be dropped off at any of the locations listed below.
Dates when entries will be accepted are also listed.
All mailed entries should be sent to the
Home Sweet Homebrew locaton.
If you are mailing your entry please package carefully!

No entries will be accepted the day of the competition.

TWO (12-16oz) bottles per entry.
Brown prefered, green accepted, clear discouraged.
Bottles must be free of labels or identifying marks.
Grolsh-type wire swing tops are not acceptable.
Printed crown caps must be blacked out.
A
bottle ID form
must be attached to each bottle with a rubber band.
No glue or tape please.

A complete
entry form
must be included with each entry.
If submitting more than one entry please be sure that the
entry forms and bottle ID labels
are clearly marked to identify each separate entry.

Beer/cider/mead will be judged according to the category it was entered in.
Please consult the
BJCP Style Guidelines.
If you cannot find a category for your beer, contact the
competition organizer.

Any of the 10 categories with fewer than 6 entries will be combined
with another category.
Your beer will be judged according to the category it was entered in.

All entries become property of HOPS. No entries will be returned.
Only home-brewed (not comercial or commercially assisted) beers
may be entered (must conform to AHA guidelines for homebrew--
Editor's note: I've been all over the AHA web page and didn't
find anything except one statement in their 2002 National Homebrew
Competition Rules and Regulations--"Your homebrew must not
have been brewed at any place that brews beverages for any
commercial purpose, whether for commercial research, production or
any other purpose, including brew-on-premise
establishments")

Entries that do not follow these guidelines and entry requirements
will be disqualified.
Disqualified entries may be judged but are not eligible for any of the
awards.

Any questions or disputes that arise during the competition will be
settled by the competition organizer with all decisions being final.

Two Bottles of correct size without identifying marks.

Bottle ID forms attached to each bottle with a rubber band.
