    Greeting HOPS Members!

Thanks to all who made it to the post St. Patrick's Day meeting March 18. Besides imbibing some very viscous stout (brewed at the last meeting), and watching over the boil of the Oktoberfest beer, we actually mentioned a few points of interest.

It was agreed that the Maibock beer, being ten gallons, will be drunk at the Cinco de Maibock Swap Meet at the Castle (aka, Steve & Gwyn's house) May 3. If there is any left over, it can be finished at the BBQ. Also, pertaining to the Swap Meet, items other than brewing equipment/ingredients can be brought, though EVERYTHING MUST BE REMOVED AT THE END OF THE DAY! There was some interest in the next HOPS Night Out, which should be scheduled soon. We had tentatively planned Taconelli's (pizza) for April 29th though there are other suggestions. Dave Collins mentioned Lucia's in the Northeast for Italian, there could be a return to Taj Mahal in Center City for Indian or you could contact Mitch with other ideas. Let's try to come to an agreement by the end of this week, so we can get it out in the newsletter.

Karl says he'd like to get the newsletter out by the 30th of March. Rod Brundage has been in contact with Joe Uknalis regarding the HOPS BOPS. It is scheduled for November 15th. Joe has brought up the idea of moving it to the spring, in the midst of all the other regional competitions. He feels that we may get a better response further on into the 'brewing season'. It may be too late for this year's competition, but we'd like your input for future years. Also, while Rod and Joe are willing to coordinate the competition, they will both be otherwise engaged durnig its current time period. So, we'll also need more volunteers! YARDS TOUR! Yes, the boys at YARDS do know we're coming over! The tour is this Sunday, March 29th, at 1 o'clock. If you plan on showing up, and know this in advance, please let me know via e-mail or phone (leave a message at HSH) so we know approximately how many people will be there. Directions are available also.

Perhaps we could coordinate a post brewery tour pub crawl. (The brewery is just the other side of Manayunk from Manayunk Brewing...) See you Sunday!

    Cheers! Nancy
